Get involved.
There's more to college life than exams and all-night study sessions. As a WPI student you'll work hard, but you'll play hard, too. Student government, the arts, campus organizations, and athletics all provide a healthy balance to the demands of class and project work. And your involvement in campus life will help you develop leadership skills and broader interests beyond your academic work. While you're having fun, you'll also make some of the best friends of your life.
There are more than 200 student clubs and activities on campus. The many student groups range from the strictly social to the purely professional. You'll find a club or organization to match almost every interest. It there isn't one here that interests you, then come to WPI and start one.

Music and Theatre
The arts are alive and well at WPI. The vitality of our arts programs is due in large part to the strength of the Humanities and Arts Department, which encourages students to pursue their interests in music, drama, and other forms of artistic expression. There are several music groups, both instrumental and vocal, as well as theatre groups that stage performances and hold drama workshops each year. Arts and performance are two of the most popular activities at WPI. For more information, visit wpi.edu/+music or wpi.edu/+theatre.
Show your WPI spirit.
WPI's mascot, Gompei the Goat...it all dates back to the class mascot of 1893: a goat! A Japanese student, Gompei Kuwada, was selected as the original goat keeper—simply because his initials fit the title. The traditions continue today with the Goat's Head Rivalry and other events!
