Beyond Campus

Who says you can't have it all? The "all" in Worcester is college students, 30,000 of them. From over 13 Worcester-area colleges and universities, they'll be wherever you go. Imagine the possibilities! (Here's one: The Palladium offers a weekly 18+ night.)

Besides everything in Worcester, we're just an hour from Boston and an hour or two from the mountains in New Hampshire and Vermont. And if you're up for a road trip, New York is just a three-hour drive.

Super Shopping

Greendale Mall is right nearby. Solomon Pond and Auburn malls are a short drive. Music lovers can find Best Buy (at Greendale) and Al Bum's (on Highland St.).

Arts Galore

• Worcester Art Museum - a 2-minute walk from campus, free admission for students
• DCU Center - featuring big names such as Dave Matthews Band, Nine-Inch Nails, Lenny Kravitz and Garth Brooks
• Mechanics Hall - one of the finest concert halls in the country, where you can catch the annual performance of The Nutcracker or enjoy renowned companies such as the Prague Chamber Orchestra
• Tuckerman Hall - within walking distance, home of the Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra

Tasty Menus

There are lots of restaurants in Worcester. Just a few near campus include:

• Vinny T's - featuring Italian food and a beautiful view of Lake Quinsigamond
• The Boynton - for pub-style food
• The Sole Proprietor - you guessed it, seafood
• Tortilla Sam's - great chimichangas and Mexican food
• Sakura Tokyo - if you're into sushi

On Buses, Billiards and Burgers

Consortium transportation takes you to events on other campuses. Boston Billiards and Jillian's provide great venues for pool, darts and video games. And, since many of the nation's classic diners were built right here in Worcester, you can celebrate history, gastronomically speaking, by tackling a scrumptious burger at the Boulevard Diner.

Outdoors and Beyond

• Ski at Wachusett Mountain (a half-hour away) or head to the slopes in New Hampshire or Vermont
• Sail or row on Lake Quinsigamond
• See where U.S. history was made in Concord and New England
• Take a train from beautiful Union Station (Amtrak and MBTA) or a bus from Worcester to anywhere you want to go.
• Boston is much more than Fenway Park and Harvard Square, as any WPI student will tell you. Go. Boston is just about an hour from Worcester (you can take the train or a bus).

Worcester Rocks

The College of Worcester Consortium has used part of a $125,000 grant from the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism to produce a Web-based video about Worcester and the region as a vibrant college destination. Collectively, the 13 colleges and universities in the Consortium attract more than half a million visitors to the region each year.  View the video below or see it on YouTube.
