The Program
Summer 2008: A five-day program for soon-to-be freshmen and sophomores interested in biology, chemisty/biochemistry, interactive media and game development, and robotics.
Launch 2008 will run August 4–8, 2008!
For over 25 years our summer programs have been enthusiastically attended by hundreds of young people. WPI is pleased to offer an academic experience for students entering their freshman or sophomore year in high school.
WPI Launch is distinguished from our other programs by its focus on current laboratory techniques and unsolved problems in biology, chemistry/biochemistry, interactive media and game development, and robotics.
This program will challenge you to explore the outer limits of knowledge in these fields. You'll attend workshops and do lab work in your chosen area of study. With classmates, you'll work on projects and assemble your findings. You'll learn from outstanding WPI instructors and students and use state-of-the-art experimental, analytical, and computer technology.
Program hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Launch staff and other WPI community members will be available each day at 8 a.m. for early arrival, and will provide late-afternoon supervised activities until 5 p.m.; lunch will be included every day. At the start of the program, a one-hour orientation period will welcome participants and their parents (Monday, 8 a.m.) and a closing luncheon ceremony will be held on Friday.
We think you'll find this summer enrichment experience challenging, creative, and lots of fun!
