Application Instructions

For all candidates:

  1. Complete the entire application form and submit.
  2. Print out all additional forms and be sure to write out your personal information on the top of each form before distributing.
    • Submit the "Math/Science Faculty Recommendation" along with a stamped envelope addressed to WPI's Office of Admissions to a math, biology, chemistry or physics teacher/professor who had you in class.
    • Submit the "Transcript Request Form" to your guidance or registrar's office. Please be sure to forward senior year grades when available.
  3. Freshman candidates, who wish for their test scores to be considered for admission, must register to take the SAT I OR the ACT prior to the application deadline chosen.  Students may also alternative materials through WPI's Flex Path option in lieu of test scores.  Please see Admissions Requirements for more details.

All applicants will automatically receive an acknowledgement to indicate receipt of application by WPI's Office of Admissions. Please take particular note as to what may be missing in order to complete your admission folder.

For Early Action candidates:

  1. Select Early Action as your application type.
  2. Check the Early Action box on the recommendation and transcript forms.
  3. If admitted, Early Action candidates have until May 1, the Candidate's Reply Date, to make an enrollment decision.

 For international students:

  1. In addition to completing the rest of the application, international students must submit the following documents:
    • An official, certified record of secondary school work with all courses and grades (results) listed.
    • An explanation of the grading system used and an English translation of any records in languages other than English.
    • A Statement of Financial Responsibility (with appropriate signatures) and bank or sponsor verification indicating ability to meet WPI's annual cost.
  2. If English is not your native language, results from one of the following must be submitted:
    • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
    • IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
    • MELAB (Michigan Test)

For transfer candidates:

  1. You must submit official transcripts of all work completed at the college level, as well as a listing of courses in progress.
  2. If you have graduated from high school within the last year, please have your high school transcript sent to WPI.
  3. If your formal education has been interrupted for a year or more, please enclose a statement outlining your activities during that time period.
